The New State movement should take heart from the recent history of the once 18 Progressive States including Puerto Rico. Today there are just 11 Progressive States, but 5 of them have Republican governors to try and save them from insolvency. Only 4 of the once 18 Progressive States have all Progressive government. Three states rejected Progressive government after bad debt changed voters who voted Republican, AZ, NM, and WI. Two Progressive States have become insolvent, Michigan and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico being under a Congressionally passed Chapter 10 reorganization.

We know from the financial news that Illinois will probably become the second insolvent state, and that its utility districts, school districts, park districts, and cities will become insolvent. The Republican governor of IL is advising Chicago Public Schools to file bankruptcy, and its inevitable. We know from the financial news that Puerto Rico’s $70 billion in state debt could not be paid, with a potential bond creditor free for all chaos.

We know that the prime cause of Progressive state insolvency is 15-20% of the state population flees to other states with jobs, without socialist crony corruption, without failed basic institutions like schools, roads, water companies, and without crime ridden cities.

We also know that corrupt Progressive socialist Democrats hang on lying to the public until the last day, “unexpectedly” there is a state wide financial crisis because the state can borrow no money, and cannot pay its crony public employee union members their pensions and its bondholders.

We know in CA that approximately 8 million of its 37 million people are in the US illegally, with no color of right to be in CA, if those 8 million were forced to leave CA would suffer an immediate economic depression.

For example the entire cities of Henderson and Inglewood are basically entirely populated by illegal Hispanics, deporting them would leave ghost cities. Los Angeles County has a population of 9.8 million, 47% Hispanic and 13% Asian, about 30% are illegals, or 3 million illegal residents. A sizable percent of the Asian population is also illegal. Deporting them would be the same as deporting the entire population of Utah and half of Montana. Just in LA County.

It is a combination of California’s debt, bonded debt and public employee debt and runaway illegal immigration population that is most likely to produce a Constitutional Crisis and is a clear threat to the Union of the State.

We know that there are another 5 million illegal residents who have some legal claim to being in the US, expired visas, and Hispanic relatives like Anchor Babies. This quasi legal population adds to the deadly constitutional mixture. California is the Only state with this illegal resident problem of this magnitude and a Trillion dollars minimum in debt and unfunded obligations.

We know that Northern California cities and municipal entities have much lower debt, its school districts and public employees are more modestly paid, and its pensions plans more solvent, with very low percentage of illegal aliens, and majority white population.

There will be 34 Red State, all Republican governments, who have obeyed US law, have almost no illegal alien population, no Hispanic population to speak of, are not failing economically, and who are not going to accept bailing CA out financially, or accept its millions of illegal aliens into their populations.

It should be policy that California revert to territorial status to be reformed, and broken up into two or three states.

    • So here is where Plan C comes into play and we need to be ready when it does. Thank you for your analysis Val.

    • Good stuff, Val. It reminds me of the cartoon of a tipping rowboat where two guys on the low end, where the hole is furiously hand bailing. The other two guys on the high end are saying that they sure are glad that they are not where the hole is. Jefferson/NorthCal/NewState just needs to get the heck out and let the wealthy Progressive know-it-alls deal with their situation with their genius schemes. When all else fails, they can always blame it on Bush!
