Hi, my name is Clare Hedin and I’m the regional director for the Yes California Independence Campaign (aka Calexit) in the Bay Area. I just sent out a reminder to our volunteers about our 6-week campaign which has just soft-launched and wanted to extend an invitation to get involved, even though you haven’t signed up as a volunteer yet. Basically, we are building up our tribes around California to qualify the California independence question for the 2018 ballot. Jump in and join in!

Things are getting crazy in this country. Washington is out of control. Californians are rightfully threatened and scared. Our civil liberties and freedoms are being abridged, the healthcare that millions of Californians rely on is at risk, the Trump administration is taking bids to build his great wall, the ideological balance of the Supreme Court (which in many ways has been our last line of defense) lies in the balance, and with Washington being governed by those who deny the reality of climate change, the environment is under more threat than ever before. So… what can you do to help steer California in a new direction?

Register as an event leader and see exactly what you can do over the next six weeks to be the change you want to see in this world.

By volunteering your precious time and energy for Calexit will make it possible, in a relatively short time, for us to once more wake up in a country we recognize as our home – and feel welcome, safe, and free. That’s what is behind this effort. Sure, we talk about how we lose $70 billion a year subsidizing the rest of the country but that’s an abstract budget point. What really drives this campaign is how the changes that are and have been underway in this country for many years are threatening the livelihood, health, safety, and happiness of you and I, and every other Californian.

But we need as many volunteers as possible so join us, please, right now, and make the commitment.

Join other patriots of California in your area who have already signed up for the six-week campaign that will be remembered as among the first steps towards making the country of California that we envision possible!

The goal:

To do six open houses (at a place of your choice – doesn’t have to be your house) to gather signatures.
Create a local tribe to find people to come to you and sign the petition. Shoot for 50 signatures per week.
Sign up and enlist one additional person per week (one who signed your petition) to repeat what you are doing for the next 5 weeks.

Don’t let the Washington government repeal our healthcare, erect a wall on the Mexican border, deport our undocumented family members and friends, ban your Muslim family members or friends from coming to California, repeal women’s rights, or allow the Earth to be plundered of its resources with no regard for the health or future of our environment. You can stop this, in six short weekly events – and you can meet more members of your local community doing it.

An independent California will be free from the reach of this virtually permanent conservative Supreme Court and that means we Californians will keep our freedoms.
